Getting together lest we be alone

Species of living organisms form societies to live together.  Birds of a feather flock together, fish of a size form “balls” or “schools” and so ants form colonies and elephants herds.  Sub-species do too and the trend has spread to “acquired” types.  Miners congregate underground, submariners go underwater, and singers congregate at the opera house.  Mosquitoes like the swamps and lawyers claim the world.  I will try to make sense of this next.

Things about the human habitat are getting unbearable.  Not long ago there were no tent communities in the parks, nor riots after soccer games.  The arrival of such things has taken a toll on common decency.  Things have gotten so bad that it has woken  “our” sleepy free press to spread the message Delacroix painted for us.  This was to bring the message to help prevent revolution, for they are noisy, bloody and usually result in little change with little justification for the upheaval.  I was surprised and pleased to see the newspapers informing the naive among us that the Justice system has amassed much Power which made it correspondingly corrupt, as Lord Bowen predicted.  It is really sad to see the Lawyers of the Land feeding us the deception “that Democracy is the ‘Rule of Law’”.  Much more painful really for us to see this happening even if so long after Charles Dickens pronounced the Law an Ass and Anatole France did likewise.  It was a most pleasant moment to see the Press spelling out the words for its readers.  There is a wide canyon between the governance of the society in accordance with the Law and the laws members of the democratically governed society enacts to govern themselves.

Each and every Tyrant, Dictator, Despot or Oppressor (choose the appellation) makes “laws”, as many and as harsh as he deems the people will endure without imperiling the “rule of the dictator’s ‘Laws’”.

Of course, dictators love the “rule of law” pseudonym for it disguises this trap. The lawyers gain much too.  They claim they deserve the high fees they demand for operating the Rule of Law, thereby ensuring the society is democratically governed, they say.  They have usurped the Parliament lest other than Lawyers make Laws; Imagine how well we would be governed if the laws were made by philosophers instead of by kings. Instead, we are governed by “three Estates”, made up predominately by Lawyers: the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary “Estates” and their trio of the Right Honourable bosses.

No, I do not want the Lawyers killed like Shakespeare suggested, BUT they have caused so much grief, we ought to get some compensation for that.

Wouldn’t that be Grand!
